Ganfeng Lithium Co. Ltd. (GFL or Ganfeng) is one of the world’s leading Lithium manufacturers, established in China in 2000. It has been listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange since 2010 and on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (Ticker 1772.HK) since 2018 when it raised US$ 440 million in an IPO. Ganfeng has experienced rapid growth in recent years, consequently forming several highly specialized Lithium production subsidiaries and most recently commissioning a new facility in China adding 500mt/y Li metal to its current 1000mt/y Li production capacity. The company exports and produces over 20 unique lithium products for various applications worldwide. This includes Li metal batteries for which Ganfeng has developed a breakthrough technology that shortens the industry standard production process.
Ganfeng Lithium is not only ILC’s joint venture partner, but also has a 11.64% ownership in the company (reducing to 7.79% if ILC’s convertibles are all converted). The parties are now jointly working on developing the Mariana Lithium Brine project in Argentina (where a resource estimate published in February 2020 has shown measured and indicated resource of 4,410,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent) and the Avalonia Lithium Pegmatite project in Ireland. Ganfeng owns 87.209% of Mariana (reducing to 77.209% if ILC exercises its back in right) while ILC owns 12.791% with a right to take this shareholding up to 22.791%. ILC has announced publicly that it is reviewing its strategic options for its Mariana shareholding. For details of Mariana or Avalonia please visit our projects page or view the various news releases.
